~~~ HAYDENGOLD GOLDEN RETRIEVERS ~~~
About Us
We are a small select Kennel based at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia.
We breed only occasionally, our aim is to breed Golden Retrievers that are true to type, sound in body and still maintain the wonderful temperament that is so characteristic of this breed. All our dogs are tested for hereditary diseases before we breed from them.
A BRIEF HISTORY.....
Dogs and showing first became part of my life in 1980 whilst still living in the UK. I had always wanted a Great Dane and bought my first puppy from Elaine and David Parish who owned the very respected and successful Dorneywood Kennels in England.  Jenny (Dorneywood Genevieve of Haydendane), was bought as a pet with the thought that I might show!! So after attending my first Great Dane Club Show in early 1981 and winning my first rosette!!.....I got the bug!!! She won at both Championship show and Open show levels, including a Best in Show and gained her KC stud book number. In her first litter she produced Abbey (Haydendane Athena) who gained her Junior Warrant, won a Great Dane Club Members Show BIS, 1 CC and 1 RCC. I bred Great Danes in England under the prefix HAYDENDANE and have Judged the breed at Open Show level. My breed lines were mainly Dorneywood, Danelagh's (USA), and Walkmyll.
Following my move to Australia in the late Eighties, I took some time out from the show scene …......but in 1993 I decided it was time to start over, but not with Great Danes this time (although they will always hold a very special place in my heart).....After attending a few shows..I was offered a young yellow Labrador to show; his name was Toby (Ch Graffoe Go Between); he was six months old when he came to live with me. Together we won many CC's, Class in Group and in Show awards. The highlight being BEST PUPPY in the Gundog Group at the ADELAIDE ROYAL SHOW in 1994... As a companion for Toby,  "Sophie" (Ch Raymel Poetry in Motion) joined us in 1994. Although I did not show her, She became a wonderful companion. She was a dream to live with, her sole aim in life was to please..her temperament was so typical of this wonderful breed. Sadly, we lost Sophie in 2004 aged 12.5 years to cancer.....She was a very special dog.
In 2003 I purchased my first Golden "Eddie" (Ch Sambindor Sir Edward) from Irene Nicholl - Sambindor, and as you will see from these pages I have since added "Faith" (Goldfleece Just Timeless) from Ann Smith in Woodburn NSW and "Gracie" (Naragold Hill of Grace) from Emma Clarke in Brisbane Qld.  2007 saw the arrival of my first homebred golden, Faith's son "George" , who is now my first homebred Champion (Ch Haydengold Power of One) and my life has not been the same since.......
